This set transformed my curly hair by fighting humidity frizz and defining curls without heaviness. The leave-in conditioner and oil are essentials, but I wish packaging was more hygienic.

My Curly Hair Savior: Frizz-Free Definition Triumph

This set is pricey so it might not be for everyone but it will work best for those who have curlier hair. I have very straight, fine, flat hair so I only used the shampoo and conditioner which worked well for me but my roommate has very curly hair that frizzes in the humidity no matter what she does so I asked if she wanted to test this out and she agreed. Below is her reaction and I agree.

Shampoo and conditioner great for daily use and control humidity related frizz. I personally prefer a pump bottle but there’s nothing stopping you from moving this to another bottle with a pump. These both had a light floral scent that didn’t linger or overwhelm me throughout the day.

Leave in conditioner did an amazing job of helping my natural curl pattern and combating frizz caused humidity. I wish the leave in wasn’t in a tub. I hate having to dip my hand into the product and potentially getting bacteria into it that the moist environment will cause badness to happen. Same scent as the shampoo and conditioner and also dissipated quickly so it wasn’t overwhelming throughout the day.

Hair oil is thick and heavy are the only words that come to mind for me. It has the same scent as most hair oils out there but again it doesn’t linger. This gave my curls plenty of definition and help maintaining their form without weighing it down too much but my hair needs that weight so it won’t poof up and frizz. If your hair lacks curl this will just make it flat so that needs to be your end goal for your look if you’re going to use this oil.

I’d say this set is great but the price is a little high. You do get multiple pieces and they can all be used depending on where you are in your hair wash cycle. If your hair is straight maybe hesitant or pass on this. If your hair has any curl or wave to it pick this up and give it a shot. If you discover only some of it works for you then work on grabbing the individual pieces that do work and this was a great way to try out the whole system.

Shampoo Basics & Tips

Understanding Humidity and Hair Frizz

Humidity causes frizz when hair absorbs excess moisture from the air, swelling the hair shaft and lifting cuticles. Curly hair is particularly vulnerable due to its uneven texture. Products like this shampoo set combat frizz with polymers and silicones that create a protective barrier, sealing moisture out while locking hydration in.

Leave-In Conditioner Benefits

Unlike rinse-out conditioners, leave-in products provide continuous hydration and detangling. They contain humectants like glycerin that attract moisture and emollients (e.g., shea butter) to smooth cuticles. For curly hair, they enhance curl clumping and reduce breakage. The tub packaging concern is valid: dipping fingers introduces bacteria that can thrive in moist environments, potentially causing product degradation or scalp issues.

Hair Oils for Curl Definition

Heavier oils (e.g., coconut, castor) add weight to prevent "poof" by flattening the hair cuticle. They work best for high-porosity or curly hair needing structure. Lighter oils (argan, grapeseed) suit fine hair. Application tips: Use dime-sized amounts on damp hair, focusing on mid-lengths to ends to avoid greasiness.

Packaging Hygiene Solutions

Pump bottles prevent contamination by minimizing air and finger contact. For tub products, use clean spatulas or transfer contents to airless pumps. Bacterial growth in moist products can cause preservatives to degrade, reducing efficacy and potentially causing irritation.

Hair Type Considerations

Straight/fine hair lacks the texture to support heavy oils or butters, leading to flatness. Curly/wavy hair benefits from these ingredients as they provide structural support between wash days. Porosity (hair's moisture absorption ability) also matters: low-porosity hair resists heavy products, while high-porosity hair absorbs them readily.

Cost vs. Value in Hair Sets

Multi-product sets allow testing complementary formulations. While initially pricey, they may save costs if all products work synergistically. For targeted needs, buying individual items (e.g., just the frizz-fighting shampoo) can be more economical long-term.
