This shampoo delivers amazing rich lather and a truly clean, non-greasy feel for my fine, dense wavy/curly hair. Its unique sweet/fruity scent is gender-neutral perfection, and it moisturizes without residue or stripping like harsh clarifiers. (20 words)

My Squeaky-Clean Hair Secret: Shampoo Love

Don’t hesitate, I’m a hairstylist and a consumer! Buy this. Especially if you don’t plan on using conditioner or using any product in your hair. My husband and I have fine very long dense natural both wavy/straighter hair and curly/wavy hair! It smells so good and isn’t too gender oriented in appearance or scent! It’s not masculine, nor feminine just clean but also fruity/sweet smelling but Not in any actually resembling fruits way or confections. I don’t like that type of smell where you smell like a food or something other than a perfume or clean fresh scent-I’m not into that crap. No worries with the smell. If you prefer no fragrance or are sensitive maybe look for something fragrance free or consider that you may find it too strong. It’s moisturizing but without feeling greasy or unwashed. People and their sulfate free oily feeling hair. I’m not into that. I need to feel clean, squeaky clean. I like lather, lots of it! This is rich thick and creamy feeling along with clean. It won’t strip the heck out if your hair like a clarifying shampoo. I have their volumizing one Too! Though it smells great not as great as this one, but it’s a lighter formula in that it literally feels lighter and hair is lifted but also without stripping it. I love their conditioner but I keep a tub of biolage matrix hydrating conditioner for those rare occasions I need it after heavy styling like a roller set teasing and lots of hair spray and dusting powder for an updo for example, or when my hair feels dry. I don’t use a clarifying shampoo in those cases or the volumizing one I just wash twice! I use volumizing shampoo when I feel my hair is too hydrated and needs protein. I keep a protein mask on hand Incase it’s time to use it I use the kerestasse one loreal red tub treatment rare as hell that I would use this.

I wash my hair every day sometimes if I’m not styling it, if I blow dry it style I go up to 2-4 dats between washes, on the longer end I wash twice in shower, shorter end once but generous. Daily I use a nickel size and larger it with a splash of water, a little goes a long way! Just add water!

I don’t have damaged hair:

Usually I air dry in a claw clip, down, or braid my hair in pigtails. I blow dry occasionally, on low heat. I use ghd glide to “straighten” my hair. I stopped using flat iron but if I do I use a 410 f setting to touch up or prior to owning glide brush. I have curling irons that I rarely use but also same heat babyliss type I adjust. I use Olivia garden brushes gold ones. Paddle cushion type and the iDivine boar brush for brushing. I don’t color treat but if I did I would do the same.

Shampoo Basics & Tips

Understanding Shampoo for Fine, Wavy/Curly Hair

The reviewer highlights key haircare concepts. Fine hair refers to the individual hair strand's thin diameter, not density (how many strands). People with fine hair often seek lightweight products that cleanse thoroughly without weighing hair down or leaving residue ("greasy or unwashed" feeling).

Sulfate-Free Formulas and the "Oily Feeling"

Many sulfate-free shampoos use milder cleansers. While gentler, some can leave a residue or not provide the "squeaky clean" sensation some users (like this reviewer) prefer. This doesn't mean sulfate-free is bad, but it requires finding the right formula for your hair's needs and desired feel.

Clarifying Shampoos vs. Daily Cleansers

Clarifying shampoos are deep cleansers designed to remove heavy buildup from products, hard water minerals, or oils. They often contain stronger surfactants (like sulfates) and can be very stripping if used too frequently, potentially drying out hair. The reviewed shampoo is positioned as a daily cleanser that provides a thorough clean without this harsh stripping effect.

Moisturizing Without Grease

Achieving moisture without heaviness is crucial for fine hair. This shampoo likely contains humectants (like glycerin) or light emollients that attract and retain moisture without coating the hair heavily or leaving an oily film.

Protein vs. Hydration Balance

The reviewer mentions using a volumizing shampoo when hair feels "too hydrated and needs protein." Hair needs both moisture (hydration) and protein for strength. Fine hair can sometimes become overly soft or limp ("hygral fatigue") if over-moisturized and lack structure; protein treatments can help restore strength and body. Volumizing shampoos often contain proteins or polymers to temporarily thicken strands.

Heat Styling Protection

While the reviewer minimizes heat, she uses tools like the ghd glide and mentions 410°F on a flat iron. Using heat protectants (like "ghd glide") is essential to minimize damage. Lower heat settings (like her "low heat" blow-drying) are always preferable.

Fragrance Preferences & Sensitivity

The scent is described as gender-neutral, sweet/fruity but not literal, "clean," and not like food. Fragrance is highly subjective. The reviewer emphasizes it's not overpowering *to her*, but wisely notes that those sensitive to fragrance or preferring unscented products should consider alternatives.

Shampoo Application Tip

The "nickel size" amount diluted with water highlights an effective technique: concentrating shampoo on the scalp and letting the lather cleanse the lengths as it rinses out. This ensures efficient use and prevents over-application on finer hair.

Washing Frequency & Techniques

Washing frequency (daily to 2-4 days) depends on hair type, scalp oiliness, and styling. The "wash twice" method mentioned for heavier styling product buildup is common – the first wash breaks down the bulk, the second cleanses.

Boar Bristle Brushes

The "Olivia Garden... iDivine boar brush" mentioned helps distribute natural scalp oils down the hair shaft, promoting shine and smoothness, beneficial for all hair types when used gently.
