This shampoo defines my curls, adds shine, and cleans gently despite needing extra product for lather.
My hair feels soft, looks shiny, and stays clean with enhanced natural curls after using this shampoo. However, low lather means I use more product, reducing value.
This is a review from Amazon.com about product:
Tree To Tub Biotin Fine Hair Thickening Shampoo for Thicker, Fuller Volume - Gentle Volumizing Sulfate Free Argan Oil Shampoo for Women & Men w/Caffeine, Organic Saw Palmetto, All Natural Tea Tree
So I’ve tested this out now for about a month. Here is what I’ve found:
When I first started using it I was HIGHLY disappointed because it really doesn’t lather, it has some lather but I need that to feel like I’m not just spreading stuff on greasy hair or something and nothing is happening. So I have to use a LOT to really clean my hair…however I noticed after my hair dries it’s been accentuating my curls and my hair is shiny.
Pros: hair is soft
Hair is shiny
Hair is clean
Hair curls/waves aren’t affected poorly like other shampoos
Cons:
Have to use a LOT of product (so bottle runs out much faster making the price not that great to me)
Shampoo Basics & Tips
Understanding Low-Lather Shampoos
Low-lather shampoos often avoid sulfates like SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), harsh detergents that strip natural oils. Gentle surfactants (e.g., decyl glucoside) clean without excessive foam, ideal for curly or dry hair but may require more product per wash.
Why Curls Need Special Care
Curly hair is prone to dryness due to its spiral structure, which slows natural oil distribution. Shampoos that preserve moisture—like this one—enhance curl definition and reduce frizz. Avoid sulfates and alcohols that dehydrate curls.
Shine and Softness Explained
Shine results from a smooth hair cuticle layer, while softness indicates retained moisture. This shampoo likely contains humectants (e.g., glycerin) or natural oils that seal the cuticle without weighing hair down, unlike silicones in some products.
Balancing Cleanliness and Grease
Feeling "greasy" during washing occurs if shampoos lack enough surfactants to emulsify oils. Low-lather formulas clean gradually but effectively. Tip: Section hair and massage scalp thoroughly to distribute product without overuse.
Common Shampoo Questions
How much shampoo should I use? For low-lather types, a quarter-sized amount is typical—adjust based on hair thickness. Can hard water affect lather? Yes, minerals inhibit foaming. Try a clarifying rinse monthly. Why choose sulfate-free? It prevents color fading and scalp irritation, especially for sensitive or curly hair.
