My unique bourbon shampoo scent lasts all day, impresses hairstylists without strong cologne.
This premium shampoo's bourbon scent surprised my hairstylist who gathered colleagues to smell it. Though initially strong in shower, it mellows into subtle masculine fragrance lasting all day without offending hospital patients.
This is a review from Amazon.com about product:
18.21 Man Made Original Sweet Tobacco 3-in-1 Body Wash, Shampoo, & Conditioner for Men, All Hair & Skin Types, Strengthens and Moisturizes in a Manly Aroma, 18 Fl Oz

So as a guy, I am tired of searching for something to use, that doesnt smell like axe or mint. If i do not like something, I will replace it before it is used up. When I ordered this stuff, I had 3 bottles of shampoo and 2 bottles of body wash in the shower. My girlfriend complained frequently about the "clutter" of bottles.
In my line of work, I go into hospitals and work on IT installations and servicing. I do not where cologne as strong scents around recovering patients can be offensive.
I am the type of person that will definitely try anything new, but I am very particular even about who cuts my hair. Currently I get my haor cut at sports clips, and have had the same gal for about a year she does a perfect job. The first time i went in to get my haircut after using this stuff, she said "what the hell, are you cheating on me? What is the hair product you are using?"
I had no idea what she was talking about as far as a "hair product". She then called the other hair stylists over to her station to "smell my head". They all loved it, but couldnt determine what the smell was.
I had to get out my phone and show them the shampoo i ordered from Amazon.
That being said, 25.00 seams steap for shampoo, unleas you get pressured at a sports clips to try something new, and then 25 seems reasonable.
All of that said, yes the stuff smells good. My girlfriend said it smelled a little "perfumy" fresh out of the shower and in the bathroom. And yes, it does smell strong while washing your bits and places, but the smell dissipates, and what is left over is a man smell, and I think that was her underlying issue with it.
It is not cologne, but the smell lasts all day. It doesnt smell like bourbon to me, but it is pleasant.
Shampoo Basics & Tips
Understanding Fragrance Longevity in Shampoos
The reviewer notes the scent lasts all day but isn't overpowering. This relates to sillage (scent trail) and fragrance dissipation. Quality shampoos use layered notes: top notes (first impression), middle notes (core scent), and base notes (longest-lasting). Bourbon notes typically include vanilla and oak as base notes, explaining the lasting warmth.
Gender-Neutral Fragrance Trends
The user disliked "Axe or mint" stereotypes. Modern shampoos like this bourbon option reflect the gender-neutral grooming trend. Bourbon accords blend traditionally masculine (woody, tobacco) and feminine (vanilla, caramel) notes, appealing broadly without clichés.
Why Salon Professionals Noticed
Hairstylists detected the scent because shampoo fragrances interact with scalp pH (typically 5.5). A pH-balanced formula like this one preserves scent integrity. Salon-grade shampoos often concentrate fragrances at 1-2% versus cheaper alternatives at 0.5%, making them more noticeable to professionals.
Scent Sensitivity in Work Environments
The hospital setting highlights fragrance-free workplace concerns. This shampoo's quick dissipation makes it suitable where strong scents are discouraged. Look for "low VOC" labels if avoiding olfactory offense is critical.
Shampoo Value Perception
The $25 price critique is common. Premium shampoos justify costs through: sulfate-free formulas (gentler cleansing), natural extracts (like bourbon barrel extract), and higher fragrance oil concentrations. Dollar-per-wash calculations often reveal better value than drugstore options.
Everyday Shampoo Knowledge
• Clarifying shampoos remove buildup monthly but can strip scents
• Cold water rinsing seals hair cuticles, locking in fragrance
• Scent transfer to pillows occurs with oil-based fragrances
• All-day fragrance requires both shampoo and conditioner use
• Patch testing prevents reactions to new ingredients like oak extracts
