I love how this shampoo adds silky softness and shine to my fine hair without weighing it down, while complementing my copper conditioner for vibrant, long-lasting color.
This is a review from Amazon.com about product:
Davines Alchemic Shampoo, Silver, 9.47 Fl Oz

Leaves my hair VERY soft and silky feeling, with lots of shine and bounce. My hair is very fine so anything that makes it silky but not weighed down is great in my book. It doesn't tint the hair as much as the leave-in conditioners do but that's sort of expected as I leave the conditioner in for 10-15 minutes. I use this in combination with the Alchemic conditioner in copper since the stylist used multiple reds and gingers in my dye and I feel like they're a good combo.
My complaint is that the bottle has too much space left at the top, it's still quite a full bottle but my conditioner was filled to right under the cap line while the shampoo has enough space to fit more product in :| If you have long or very thick hair you might go through it fairly quick. I like the product itself but for the price I am paying I want a full bottle!
Shampoo Basics & Tips
Understanding Hair Softness and Weightless Hydration
The shampoo achieves its "silky, non-weighing" effect through sulfate-free formulas that cleanse gently. Unlike traditional shampoos, it avoids stripping natural oils, crucial for fine hair that easily flattens. Hydrating agents like panthenol or amino acids smooth hair cuticles without residue buildup.
Color Protection Mechanics
While the shampoo doesn't tint hair like leave-in conditioners, its pH-balanced formula helps seal hair cuticles. This prevents color molecules from washing out, especially when paired with specialized conditioners like Alchemic Copper, which deposit temporary pigments to refresh dyed reds/gingers.
Application Timing for Results
Leaving the conditioner for 10-15 minutes allows cationic surfactants to penetrate deeply. This repairs damage from coloring while maintaining volume—a key balance for fine hair types that require both moisture and lift.
Packaging Design Considerations
The "underfilled" bottle reflects industry "slack-fill" practices, where airspace prevents leakage during shipping. However, consumers often perceive this as reduced value. Brands targeting luxury markets typically minimize slack-fill to align with premium pricing expectations.
