I cut daily hair loss by half but got flat, greasy strands and strong Pine-Sol scent lingering.
This shampoo slashed my hair fall dramatically, yet left straight thin hair greasy within 24 hours and flat with static. Pine-Sol scent lingers until next wash—better for dry curly types.

KESH KING Anti Hairfall Shampoo | with Ayurvedic Herbs & Aloe Vera | Provides Healthy Nourished Scalp | for Shiny Smooth Hair | 11.49 Fl Oz/340ml

Omg, it smells like Pinesol floor cleaner! Looks like it too (see picture). And the smell stays on your hair until the next wash… I have been using it exclusively for the last 3 weeks (I wash my hair every other day), and yes I see less hair fall, reduced probably from a handful every day to about half a handful. So it does work for hair loss, but at the same time my hair feels flat, thin and staticky. And not shiny at all. And greasy within 24 hours of washing. My hair is straight and pretty thin, but a friend of mine who has curly hair, and very dry, uses the same shampoo and conditioner too, she says it’s good for her dry hair, and she also sees less hair fall. She says conditioner smells even worse though…
So overall I guess it doesn’t work the same for every type of hair, but I can say that it does work very well for reducing hair loss. 4 stars because of the smell and the thin flat staticky feeling.
Shampoo Basics & Tips
Understanding Shampoo Effects on Different Hair Types
This review highlights how shampoo performance varies by hair texture. Straight, thin hair often reacts differently than curly, dry hair due to sebum distribution and porosity. Thin hair may feel greasy faster as lightweight oils spread easily, while dry curly hair benefits from extra moisture.
Why Hair Feels Flat or Staticky
Flatness and static often indicate moisture imbalance. Over-cleansing can strip natural oils, causing static electricity. Ingredients like sulfates may exacerbate this. For fine hair, volumizing formulas with proteins (e.g., keratin) prevent weigh-down, while humidifying ingredients (e.g., glycerin) reduce static.
Hair Fall Reduction Mechanisms
Shampoos targeting hair loss typically contain caffeine, biotin, or ketoconazole. These stimulate follicles or block DHT (a hormone linked to thinning). Consistent use over 3+ weeks shows results, as seen in the reviewer's 50% reduction.
The Pine-Sol Scent Phenomenon
Fragrances like pine or citrus are common in clarifying shampoos but can linger if formulas lack rinse-friendly surfactants. Conditioners often intensify scents to mask chemical odors—explaining the "worse" conditioner smell noted.
Greasy Hair Within 24 Hours
Quick oil buildup suggests the shampoo's cleansers are too gentle for your scalp type. Silicone-free formulas or those with apple cider vinegar can rebalance oil production. For thin hair, avoid heavy oils (e.g., coconut) in ingredients.
Choosing Shampoos by Hair Type
Fine/straight hair needs lightweight, volumizing shampoos. Curly/dry hair thrives on sulfate-free, hydrating formulas. Always patch-test new products—genetics and scalp health significantly impact results. Clarify monthly to prevent residue-related flatness.
