This is a review from Amazon.com about product:
Keranique Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner Set for Hair Repair and Growth with Biotin and Keratin for Women, Thinning Hair Formula, 8 Fl Oz Each

When your hair is fine, wavy, & (now in my 50’s) thinning it can look limp & lifeless &/or fluffy & frizzy, sometimes all at once. Add in well water and it can be tempting to just give up.
I prefer my hair longish but was considering a chop because it seemed pointless. Past few years I had some luck with red light therapy, but my device broke and I feel like it’s thinner than ever. Enter desperation.
Decided to give this shampoo/conditioner a shot as it seemed to address my concerns PLUS had good reviews and while not cheap, it wouldn’t totally break the bank.
First use, I didn’t read the directions & wasn’t super impressed, nothing wrong, but nothing good either. I just figured it was another over-promise under-deliver product. Second use I made sure to leave it in for a couple minutes (as instructed) and BAM - We have Volume!!! I didn’t add any new products or style it differently but it looks like I have so much more hair than I did earlier in the week. Posting 2 pics (before/after) so you can see for yourself. It FEELS good too. Now I will add in a styling product or two from the same brand to try to maximize the benefit.
From other reviews it seems like it continues to work for most people, so hopefully that will be the case for me too. But even if I only use it sporadically for special events it’s definitely a keeper!
Shampoo Basics & Tips
Understanding Fine, Wavy, and Thinning Hair
Fine hair refers to hair strands with a small diameter, often making hair appear limp and lacking body. This can be genetic or influenced by factors like aging, as seen in the review where the user is in their 50s. Wavy hair has a natural S-shaped pattern that can become frizzy due to humidity or improper care, leading to the "fluffy & frizzy" description. Thinning hair involves a reduction in hair density, commonly caused by aging, hormonal changes (e.g., menopause), genetics, or stress. In the review, the user mentions thinning hair, which can result from decreased hair follicle activity over time. Well water, highlighted in the review, contains minerals like calcium and magnesium that can build up on hair, making it dull, brittle, and harder to manage, exacerbating issues like frizz and limpness.
What is Red Light Therapy for Hair?
Red light therapy uses low-level red or near-infrared light to stimulate hair follicles, promoting blood flow and cellular energy production for hair growth. It's a non-invasive treatment often used for androgenetic alopecia or general thinning. In the review, the user tried it but stopped when their device broke, illustrating how consistency is key. Benefits include increased hair density and reduced shedding, but it requires regular use over months for visible results. Alternatives include topical treatments or professional therapies, but shampoos like the one reviewed can complement such routines by improving hair appearance and health.
How Shampoo Can Add Volume to Hair
Volume-boosting shampoos work by incorporating ingredients that thicken hair strands and lift them from the scalp. Common components include proteins (e.g., keratin), which fortify hair; polymers that coat strands to add bulk; and gentle cleansers that remove excess oil without weighing hair down. In the review, the user achieved volume by leaving the shampoo on for a couple of minutes, allowing these active ingredients to penetrate and bond with hair. This process can make hair look fuller by increasing diameter and reducing flatness. For thinning hair, such shampoos may also include nutrients like biotin or caffeine to support scalp health and hair strength, though results vary based on individual hair type and adherence to instructions.
The Importance of Following Product Instructions
Product instructions are crucial for maximizing efficacy, as seen in the review where initial use without following directions led to poor results. For shampoos, directions often specify application time, water temperature, or frequency to ensure active ingredients work optimally. Leaving a shampoo on for a few minutes, as instructed here, allows ingredients like volumizing agents to fully absorb, enhancing texture and body. Skipping steps can lead to underwhelming outcomes, as products may not activate properly. Always read labels to avoid waste and achieve desired benefits, such as reduced frizz or increased volume, which can transform hair care routines and boost confidence.
Common Hair Care Questions and Tips
How often should I wash my hair? For fine or thinning hair, washing every 2-3 days helps maintain volume without stripping natural oils. Over-washing can lead to dryness, while under-washing may cause buildup. What ingredients should I look for in shampoos? Opt for volumizing agents like panthenol, niacinamide, or natural extracts that add body without heaviness. Avoid sulfates if you have sensitive scalps. How can I manage frizz? Use sulfate-free shampoos, apply conditioners only to ends, and incorporate anti-frizz serums. Does hard water affect hair? Yes, minerals in well water can cause residue; use a clarifying shampoo monthly to remove buildup. How do I maintain volume? Blow-dry hair upside down, use lightweight mousses, and avoid heavy oils on roots. These tips, combined with proper product use, can address common issues like those in the review, improving overall hair health and appearance.
I love this shampoo for avoiding dryness and weird residue, though I wish it lathered more despite double washing.
This shampoo keeps my hair hydrated without odd residue or dryness, standing out from harsher formulas. However, lathering is disappointing despite repeated washing. I'll monitor long-term changes since results take time.
I found sufficient cleaning but no deep clean difference, with an annoyingly strong, long-lasting scent.
This shampoo cleaned my hair adequately but didn't deliver promised deep cleaning results. Its excessively strong, long-lasting scent became annoying, and the $34 price seems high for a small bottle, though twice-weekly use might improve value.
This pH-balancing shampoo gently removes product buildup while protecting my thin hair from damage.
Following baking soda washes, this shampoo balances my scalp pH, thoroughly cleanses hair products without damage, reduces split ends, and maintains volume in my thin hair between washes. 20 words
