I Love Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo for Blonde Hair

I saw this purple shampoo on a Brad Mondo video. He was comparing five different purple shampoos. According to Brad this one came smack dab in the middle. Of course his number one was a very expensive purple shampoo. I forget what the second was. Then this shampoo was his 3rd. He really didn't have a bad thing to say about it. It smells good which I agree. It was mild, yet worked good. I totally agree. For the price you can't go wrong with this one. I have never had a bad experience with any Paul Mitchell products so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did. I use it once a week or once every two weeks. Depending on the tone your aiming for. I am TRYING to transition to my natural salt and pepper gray. This is making the tones more even. I do think I'm going to try the Jeff's Barbershop hair oil. I'm half Portuguese so I normally have dryer wavy/curly hair. So good healthy oils go a long way with my hair texture. I appreciate that this product doesn't completely dry out my hair like most purple shampoos have been known to do. I definitely recommend this Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo.

My Experience with Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo

I decided to try Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo after watching Brad Mondo compare five purple shampoos. He placed this one right in the middle, but he had no bad things to say about it. I completely agree. It is mild, yet it works well. It smells fresh, it tones my hair, and it does not make my hair feel like straw. I have never had a bad experience with any Paul Mitchell products, so I am glad I gave this one a chance.

What Is Purple Shampoo and How Does It Work?

Purple shampoo is a toning shampoo that uses violet pigments to cancel out yellow and brassy tones. In color theory, purple and yellow are opposite on the color wheel, so the purple helps neutralize warmth in blonde, silver, and gray hair. Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo is made for medium blonde, grey, and silver hair. That makes it a great choice for natural blondes, highlighted blondes, and people who are growing out their color to reveal their natural salt-and-pepper gray.

Why I Use Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo for My Gray Transition

I am currently trying to transition to my natural salt-and-pepper gray hair, and Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo has made the tones more even. Gray and silver hair can easily pick up yellow discoloration from the sun, heat styling, and product buildup. Using a good purple shampoo for gray hair removes that dull warmth and lets my silver look brighter and more intentional. I use this shampoo once a week or once every two weeks, depending on the tone I am aiming for. That simple routine has been enough to keep my roots and lengths looking clean and cool.

Is Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo Drying?

One of the biggest concerns people have with purple shampoo is dryness. Many toning shampoos leave blonde hair rough and brittle, but I appreciate that Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo does not completely dry out my hair. Since I have naturally dry, wavy, and curly hair, I need a gentle formula. I am half Portuguese, so my hair benefits from healthy oils, and this shampoo does not strip away everything. I have been thinking about trying Jeff's Barbershop hair oil, because healthy oils go a long way with my texture. A few reviewers still mention that it can be drying if used too often, so I recommend following up with a conditioner or a drop of hair oil if your hair is very dry.

What Does Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo Smell Like?

I love the scent of this shampoo. The product has a refreshing cucumber melon scent with soft floral notes. It smells like a salon treatment, not like a harsh chemical toner. Because I wash my hair with it regularly, a pleasant smell makes the experience much better. The gentle fragrance is another reason I keep reaching for Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo.

Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo Results and Customer Feedback

The reviews for this shampoo are very positive. It has a 4.5-star rating with over 10,323 customer ratings. Customers say it works well at brightening and toning blonde hair, especially on highlights and natural hair. Many people say it gives a brighter, whiter look, and some mention that it has a softening effect. The value is also a big plus. Compared to the expensive purple shampoo that Brad Mondo ranked first, Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo delivers great results at a much better price. It is also ranked #396 in Hair Shampoo, which shows how popular it is among shoppers.

How to Use Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo for Best Results

To get the best results from Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo, wet your hair and massage a small amount into your hair. Focus on the areas that need toning, such as blonde highlights or silver roots. Leave it on for one to three minutes, then rinse thoroughly. The longer you leave it, the stronger the toning effect will be. If your hair is starting to look yellow or brassy, you can use it more often. If your hair already looks cool and bright, you can use it every two weeks to maintain the tone. Just be careful not to overuse it, because leaving it too long can make blonde hair look a little muted.

Why I Recommend Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo

Yes, Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo is excellent for highlights. The violet pigments target the yellow undertones in lightened strands while leaving natural darker pieces less affected. That is why it is so popular for highlighted blonde hair. It helps the highlights stand out without washing out the depth of your natural color. For me, it has also helped my gray hair look more even and polished. The combination of great scent, non-drying formula, and dependable toning means I can finally stop searching for a purple shampoo that really works.

Final Thoughts on Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo

If you are looking for a mild, affordable, and effective purple shampoo, I definitely recommend Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo. It tones blonde hair, brightens silver and gray hair, neutralizes brassiness, and leaves hair feeling soft. It is not the strongest purple shampoo on the market, but it is one of the most reliable. I have used many toning shampoos over the years, and this one earns a permanent spot in my shower. Whether you are going blonde, staying silver, or transitioning to your natural gray, this shampoo can help you keep your hair looking clean, fresh, and beautifully neutral.
