Lovely coconut scent, but it left my fine hair frizzy and overpriced.
IGK Coconut Shampoo has a pleasant scent and cute packaging, but really left my fine hair frizzy and felt overpriced.Product Detail

This is a review from Amazon.com about product:
IGK EXTRA LOVE Volume & Thickening Shampoo | Lightweight + Supports Scalp + Balance Oil | Vegan + Cruelty Free | 8 Oz

Used both the shampoo and conditioner a couple times. Maybe it's just not right for my fine hair type, but it was just alright, and for the price not worth it tbh. Don't get me wrong higher quality than other drug store products and I'm a sucker for cute packaging but, the redken volume injection I've been using honestly worked better in terms of overall hair quality post blowout. I noticed more frizz after using this product than I'm accustomed to on both occasions that I've tried it. I feel bad that I didn't like it cuz I wanted to like it. For the price it's just not worth to me when I've had better for less.
IGK Coconut Shampoo Review: A Fine Hair Perspective
I tested IGK Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner on my fine hair, and this IGK coconut shampoo review fine hair experience was genuinely mixed. The brand describes the product as a professional-quality shampoo with coconut oil that restores and repairs hair from the inside out. It reduces protein loss, keeps hair moisturized, and promises softer, stronger, shinier hair immediately and over time. The formula is safe for chemically treated hair. I wanted to love it. The scent is pleasant, the packaging is cute, and it feels more expensive than drugstore products. But my fine hair became frizzier after blowouts, and my usual Redken Volume Injection gave me better overall hair quality after blowout for less money.
What Is IGK Coconut Shampoo?
IGK Coconut Shampoo is a liquid shampoo from the brand IGK. Its scent is coconut, and according to the product details, it is designed for chemically treated hair. The official description says coconut oil restores and repairs hair from inside out by reducing protein loss and keeping hair moisturized. The product dimensions are 5.6 x 2.3 x 2.3 inches and the bottle contains 8 ounces. The item model number is 2499424, the ASIN is B09HNM2MQH, and the manufacturer is IGK. It also carries several UPC codes. At the time of review, it held a Best Sellers Rank of #58,799 in Beauty & Personal Care and #1,560 in Hair Shampoo.
Coconut Oil and Hair Repair: The Key Knowledge Points
Coconut oil is one of the few natural oils that can penetrate the hair shaft. Hair is made up of protein, especially keratin, and water can damage hair by swelling the shaft. Coconut oil reduces protein loss and slows water absorption. This keeps hair moisturized from the inside, which is why the shampoo promises immediate and long-term softness, strength, and shine. For chemically treated hair, this is especially valuable because chemical services make the hair more porous and vulnerable. However, what helps damaged hair can be too heavy for fine hair, which is exactly what happened in my IGK coconut shampoo review.
Why It Made My Fine Hair Frizzy
Fine hair has a smaller diameter and fewer layers of cuticle, so it is easily overwhelmed by rich oils. When I used the shampoo and conditioner, my hair did not feel weighed down in a greasy way, but it did show more frizz than I normally see after a blowout. On both occasions I tried this product, I noticed the same result. Redken Volume Injection, which is designed to add volume to fine hair, produced smoother, bouncier blowouts. This does not mean IGK Coconut Shampoo is bad. It means the formula is better suited to people who need more moisture, such as those with curly, thick, or chemically dried hair.
Customer Reviews: The Mixed Feedback
This product has a 4.3-star rating from 313 customer reviews. Many reviewers say it is great for fine hair, has professional quality, and leaves hair super soft. They also praise the pleasant coconut scent and moisturizing properties. At the same time, other customers say the bottle is insanely small for the price, the lather is weak, and the value is poor. Some say it makes their hair greasy, while others report it severely dries it out. These mixed opinions are common in hair care because ingredients like coconut oil affect different hair types in different ways.
My Honest Verdict in This IGK Coconut Shampoo Review Fine Hair
Let me be clear: I did not dislike everything about IGK Coconut Shampoo. The coconut scent is lovely, the packaging is cute, and I can tell it is a higher-quality product than many drugstore options. But for the price, I expected better. The shampoo was just alright for me, and Redken Volume Injection worked better in terms of overall hair quality post blowout. I even felt bad because I wanted to like it. The value is not there for my fine hair, especially when I can get better results for less.
Is IGK Coconut Shampoo Right for You?
If you have thick, dry, curly, damaged, or chemically treated hair, IGK Coconut Shampoo may be an excellent choice. The coconut oil can reduce protein loss, lock in moisture, and help your hair become softer, stronger, and shinier over time. If you have fine hair, frizz-prone hair, or hair that falls flat easily, I would recommend a lightweight volumizing shampoo instead. You should also remember that the 8-ounce bottle is small, so the cost per wash is higher than most drugstore shampoos. Consider buying a travel size before you invest in the full bottle.
The Bottom Line of This IGK Coconut Shampoo Review Fine Hair Experience
Coconut oil is a proven ingredient for hair repair, and IGK Coconut Shampoo is clearly popular with many people. The science is solid: coconut oil reduces protein loss and keeps hair moisturized. Yet my fine hair saw more frizz, not less, and I could not justify the price when a cheaper volumizing shampoo worked better. This IGK coconut shampoo review fine hair conclusion is simple: it might work beautifully for someone with drier hair, but it is not the right shampoo for fine hair. If you share my hair type, start with a smaller size and compare it to your current shampoo before making the switch.
