For me, this shampoo moisturizes fine hair, controls frizz, and prevents oiliness.
After using this shampoo, I've noticed it moisturizes my fine hair effectively without causing oiliness. It controls frizz on the ends while keeping roots clean, making it ideal for daily washing and maintaining my highlights without dullness.
This is a review from Amazon.com about product:
Sebastian Professional Drench Shampoo | Deep Moisturizing for Chemically Treated Hair | 33.8 fl oz

I like this shampoo a lot because it moisturizes my hair without making it oily or limp.
I have fine thin hair and I have to highlight it for body so I do need a shampoo that will keep down the friz on the ends, but with no oily roots. I have been using shimmer lights shampoo for a long time but since my hair is getting more gray in it I noticed that the shimmer lights is toning down the golden highlights too much and looking too gray. Since I wash my hair almost everyday I can trade off between the two for good results. If I could only have one, I would pick the Drench.
Shampoo Basics & Tips
Understanding Moisturizing Shampoos
Moisturizing shampoos are designed to add hydration to the hair without weighing it down, which is crucial for people with fine or thin hair. They often contain ingredients like glycerin or natural oils that attract moisture, helping to prevent dryness and breakage. In the review, the user highlights how the shampoo moisturizes without making the hair oily or limp, indicating it's well-formulated for balance.
Caring for Fine and Thin Hair
Fine hair refers to the diameter of individual hair strands being small, while thin hair relates to the density of hair follicles on the scalp. This hair type is prone to oiliness at the roots and frizz at the ends because sebum can travel easily down fine strands. The review mentions the need for a shampoo that controls frizz without oily roots, which aligns with common challenges for fine hair care, such as using lightweight products that add volume without residue.
Managing Frizz and Oily Roots
Frizz occurs when hair cuticles are raised due to dryness or humidity, allowing moisture to enter and swell the hair shaft. To control it, shampoos with smoothing agents like silicones or natural oils can help seal the cuticles. Oily roots result from overactive sebaceous glands, and shampoos with clarifying ingredients like salicylic acid can reduce buildup. The review emphasizes the shampoo's ability to keep frizz down and roots oil-free, suggesting it may contain balancing ingredients suitable for daily use.
Effects of Highlighting on Hair
Highlighting involves lightening sections of hair, which can strip natural moisture and proteins, leading to dryness and frizz. The user mentions highlighting for body, as it can create an illusion of thickness, but it requires moisturizing shampoos to maintain health. The review also notes issues with another shampoo toning down highlights, indicating the importance of color-safe formulas that don't alter desired tones.
Benefits of Alternating Shampoos
Alternating between different shampoos, as the user does, can prevent product buildup and address varying hair needs, such as balancing moisture and cleansing. This practice is common for people who wash hair frequently, as it helps maintain scalp health and hair vitality without over-drying.
General Shampoo Knowledge and Common Questions
Shampoos come in various types, such as clarifying, volumizing, or color-protecting, and choosing the right one depends on hair type and concerns. For daily use, mild formulas are best to avoid stripping natural oils. Common issues include dandruff, which can be managed with anti-fungal shampoos, or hair loss, where nourishing ingredients like biotin may help. Always patch-test new products to avoid reactions.
