Jason Shampoo, Strong & Healthy Jojoba and Castor Oil, 16 Oz

I've been trying to find a sulfate free shampoo that is healthier for my hair and would help stop my hair from thinning. I tried a few other brands but found they left my normally dry, color treated hair very oily. They were also extremely watery. My hair just didn't feel clean and I had to wash it every day which is not good for dry hair. I decided to try Jason's Biotin and Hyaluronic Acid Shampoo but was a little skeptical at the inexpensive price. Pricier brands were disappointing so I didn't have a lot of hope but the brand has been around for a long time and the reviews were good so I went for it. I love it! It's a bigger bottle than pricier brands and the shampoo is thick and creamy instead of thin and watery. It has a pleasant but faint scent, which I like because I like my hair to smell clean but not like perfume. Too many scents in all the different beauty products is overwhelming. There's still a rich lather despite have no sulfates and it rinses out easily. My hair feels clean, soft, and healthy and not a bit oily and it feels cleaner longer. It's not drying either. I don't have to shampoo every day now. I'm very pleased with the product, shipping, and price. I look forward to seeing if it helps my hair get healthier and stop falling out so fast but it's an excellent product either way.
Overview of Jason Biotin & Hyaluronic Acid Shampoo
This product is designed to gently cleanse and nourish hair that is prone to thinning. The key ingredients include biotin (vitamin B7), which supports hair strength and growth, and hyaluronic acid, known for its ability to retain moisture and add volume without weighing hair down. The formula is sulfate-free, meaning it uses mild cleansing agents that do not strip natural oils, making it ideal for color-treated, dry, or sensitive scalps.
Key Ingredients and Their Benefits
Biotin helps fortify hair strands, reduce breakage, and promote a healthier scalp. Hyaluronic acid attracts moisture to the hair shaft, increasing hydration and plumping the hair for a fuller appearance. The product also contains jojoba seed oil (as referenced in the similar JASON Long and Strong formula), which mimics the scalp's natural sebum to balance oil production and soothe dryness. Chamomile and grapefruit extracts provide antioxidant protection and a gentle, natural fragrance, while vitamin B5 (panthenol) improves elasticity and shine. Quinoa protein strengthens the hair cuticle from within. All ingredients are free from parabens, sulfates, phthalates, petrolatum, and artificial colors. The brand is cruelty-free and never tested on animals.
How This Shampoo Addresses Common Hair Concerns
Many users with thinning or fine hair struggle to find a cleanser that removes buildup without causing dryness or greasiness. Traditional shampoos often contain sulfates that produce heavy foam but strip moisture, leading to an oily rebound. Jason's shampoo uses a thick, creamy base that lathers moderately even with sulfate-free surfactants. It rinses out easily, leaving hair feeling clean and soft—not oily or sticky. The hyaluronic acid and biotin work together to improve hair's manageability and length retention, as noted in the product description for the Jojoba version. For those with color-treated hair, the gentle formula helps preserve color vibrancy while preventing over-drying.
User Experience and Practical Tips
Based on my experience (and thousands of positive reviews averaging 4.4 stars), this shampoo delivers visible results in reducing shedding and improving hair texture. To maximize benefits: use lukewarm water, massage gently into the scalp for 30 seconds, and follow with a conditioner from the same line. Because it's concentrated, a small amount goes a long way—the 16 oz bottle lasts longer than many premium brands. If you have very oily hair, you may want to double-clean occasionally, but most users find their hair stays cleaner for an extra day or two. The subtle, clean scent (jojoba and chamomile) makes it suitable for those sensitive to strong fragrances.
Comparison to Other Products
Unlike watery, thin shampoos from other drugstore brands, Jason's formula has a rich, lotion-like consistency. Pricier salon brands often contain sulfates or heavy silicones that cause buildup; this shampoo avoids those ingredients. It's an excellent alternative for anyone seeking a natural, budget-friendly solution for thinning hair without sacrificing performance. Many competitors in the “biotin shampoo” category cost two to three times more and deliver similar or inferior results.
Long-Term Use and Results
While individual results vary, consistent use over several weeks typically shows reduced hair fall, increased shine, and easier styling. The shampoo supports the scalp's natural microbiome, which can lead to less itchiness and flaking. Paired with a healthy diet and stress management, this product is a reliable foundation for hair wellness. Always patch test if you have allergies to any botanical extracts.
Final Thoughts
Jason's Biotin & Hyaluronic Acid Shampoo proves that effective hair care doesn't require a high price tag. Its sulfate-free, nutrient-rich formula addresses the root causes of thinning and dryness while leaving hair manageable and healthy-looking. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a gentle, powerful daily cleanser.
