My Shampoo Fix for Mineral-Damaged Hair

The minerals in our water was destroying my super thick white long curly locks. One jar of shampoo and conditioner saved them. I have a bit left as I use it in between other shampoos as well. I can tell when I need it cause no one fixed the water and so I keep a balance going with this. Would work out even better if it was all I used. The problem with the minerals was thinning and breakage and dullness. All gone now and I get lots of compliments on my locks which I try hard to accept because these curls have a mind of their own and are just hard to control neatly and I nearly always like their hair more than mine. But I'm just happy when the locks are healthy.

Shampoo Basics & Tips

Mineral Damage and Shampoo Solution

Mineral damage occurs when hard water, which contains high levels of minerals like calcium and magnesium, dries out hair and causes breakage. These minerals can build up on the scalp and hair shaft, leading to dullness, thinning, and difficulty managing curls.

How This Shampoo Helps

This shampoo is designed to remove mineral buildup and restore hair health. It helps reduce breakage, improve shine, and make curls more manageable. Regular use can lead to healthier, stronger hair over time.

Who This Shampoo Is For

This shampoo is ideal for people with thick, curly, or coarse hair that is prone to mineral damage. It is especially beneficial for those living in areas with hard water or who frequently swim in chlorinated pools.

Usage Tips

Use this shampoo 1-2 times a week, depending on your hair's needs. Apply a small amount to wet hair, massage into the scalp for 2-3 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Follow with a conditioner to maintain moisture balance.

Best Results

For best results, use this shampoo consistently and avoid over-washing. If possible, pair it with a sulfate-free conditioner to further protect your hair from mineral buildup and keep your curls healthy and vibrant.

Urban Decay's citrus-scented shampoo gave me thicker-looking hair but created a sticky texture that reduced manageability. While I appreciate the brand, this formula's trade-offs leave me undecided about continued use.
