I finally found a sulfate-free shampoo that stops flakes without damaging my keratin treatment – it works in minutes and keeps my scalp calm for days!

This is a review from Amazon.com about product:

PHILIP B. Anti-Flake Relief Shampoo Lite 7.4 oz. (220 ml), for Dry, Itchy Scalps - Instant Soothing Relief for Lasting Comfort

My Best Sulfate-Free Anti-Flake Shampoo for Keratin-Treated Hair

Ive tried quite a few anti flake shampoos over the years and this one works the best. Normally, Id never spend this much for an anti flake shampoo but I spent $300 on a keratin treatment and since this product is sodium sulfate free its safe for keratin treated hair. The smell is very medicinal but not terrible. Best part is it works extremely well. My scalp gets flaky, I wet my hair, put this on and massage it into my scalp, let it sit a few mins and then rinse and the itch and flakes are gone. Its worth the money.

Shampoo Basics & Tips

Understanding Keratin Treatment Protection

Keratin treatments (like the $300 one mentioned) smooth hair by infusing protein. Sodium sulfate-free shampoos prevent stripping these treatments, extending results and maintaining hair integrity.

Why Anti-Flake Formulas Matter

Flaky scalps often result from dryness or fungal issues. Effective shampoos use ingredients like zinc pyrithione or salicylic acid to exfoliate and soothe without harsh sulfates.

The Role of Sulfate-Free Formulas

Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) creates lather but strips natural oils. Sulfate-free options, like this shampoo, clean gently while preserving color, treatments, and scalp moisture balance.

Medicinal Scents Explained

The "medicinal" smell likely comes from active ingredients like tea tree oil or coal tar, which target flakes and itching while being safe for treated hair.

Application Technique for Results

Massaging into the scalp and letting it sit (as described) allows active ingredients to penetrate. This method maximizes exfoliation and anti-inflammatory effects for faster relief.
