As a blonde, I use this purple shampoo weekly after clarifying shampoo because it lathers well with minimal product, and I massage it in for five minutes, leave it for ten minutes with a cap, then rinse with lukewarm water to prevent brassiness effectivel

I Love This Purple Shampoo for Blonde Hair

I like it. It’s one of the better shampoos.

I’m a blonde. I always wash my hair once a week so before I use the purple shampoo, I washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo. Get all the junk out from the weeks worth of products and what not.

Then I do the purple shampoo. I lather my hair up really really good. A little bit goes a long way with this. This is a very good shampoo. You don’t need a whole bunch like other purple shampoos to make suds. It sets up very easy.

So you’re probably gonna just wanna you know massage the shampoo into your clean hair after using the clarifying shampoo I recommend using this once a week massaging it in for at least five minutes getting it into your hair working into your hair maybe possibly putting a shower cap on also When you put the purple shampoo in your hair, make sure your hair is not dripping wet. I know that’s kind of hard in the shower but turn the shower off for a minute and kind of towel Dry your hair and then start shampooing your hair.

Moving forward so massage it in for a good five minutes really lather your hair work it in remember make sure your hair is not dripping wet. Leave it in for 10 minutes. You might want to put a shower cap on as you wash the rest of yourself and then go ahead and rinse it off with lukewarm water Because hot water will turn your hair brassy .

You’re welcome 👏🏼‼️

Shampoo Basics & Tips

What is Purple Shampoo?

Purple shampoo is a toning shampoo designed for blonde, silver, or highlighted hair. It contains violet pigments that help neutralize unwanted yellow or brassy tones, which can develop due to factors like sun exposure, hard water, or product buildup. By counteracting these warm tones, purple shampoo helps maintain a cool, bright shade and extends the life of color-treated hair. It's typically used once a week or as needed, depending on hair type and color intensity. Overuse can lead to a purple tint, so it's important to follow instructions and adjust frequency based on individual hair needs.

Why Use Clarifying Shampoo First?

Clarifying shampoo is a deep-cleansing product that removes buildup from styling products, oils, and environmental pollutants. Using it before purple shampoo ensures that your hair is free of residue, allowing the purple pigments to penetrate evenly and work more effectively. This step prevents uneven toning and helps achieve optimal results. Clarifying shampoos are stronger than regular ones and can be drying, so they should be used sparingly, such as once a week or every few weeks, to avoid stripping natural oils. For best practices, follow with a conditioner to maintain hair moisture and health.

How to Apply Purple Shampoo Correctly

To apply purple shampoo effectively, start with hair that is not dripping wet, as excess water can dilute the product and reduce its efficacy. After using a clarifying shampoo, towel-dry your hair slightly to remove excess moisture. Then, apply a small amount of purple shampoo—it often lathers well with minimal product. Massage it into your hair and scalp for at least five minutes to ensure even coverage and allow the pigments to work. For enhanced results, put on a shower cap and leave the shampoo in for about 10 minutes; this helps lock in moisture and intensify the toning effect. Finally, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, as hot water can open hair cuticles and lead to brassiness by stripping color or causing damage.

The Importance of Water Temperature and Rinsing

Using lukewarm water instead of hot water when rinsing purple shampoo is crucial because hot water can cause hair cuticles to open, leading to color fading, dryness, and brassiness. Lukewarm water helps seal the cuticles, locking in moisture and color while preventing damage. This practice also reduces the risk of irritation to the scalp and maintains hair's natural shine. For overall hair care, it's recommended to finish with a cool rinse to smooth the hair shaft and enhance vibrancy. Incorporating this into your routine can improve hair health and longevity of color treatments.

Common Questions About Shampoo and Hair Care

Many people wonder how often to use purple shampoo; generally, once a week is sufficient, but it may vary based on hair porosity and color. Overuse can cause purple staining, so start with less and adjust. Another common question is whether purple shampoo works on all hair types—it's primarily for light-colored hair, but those with dark hair might not see significant results. Additionally, people often ask about alternatives to prevent brassiness, such as using filtered water or color-protecting products. For daily shampoo use, choose sulfate-free options to avoid stripping natural oils, and always follow with conditioner to maintain balance. If you experience dryness or irritation, consider consulting a dermatologist or hairstylist for personalized advice.
