Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two, Clarifying Shampoo, Deep Cleanses + Removes Buildup, For All Hair Types, Especially Oily Hair

At 37 years old, for some reason my hair suddenly became extremely oily. I'm talking embarrassingly oily after only skipping one day of wash. I was super self conscious about it. My mother gave me something that she just so happened to have on hand and it worked super great. Unfortunately they stopped making it so I had to look for something else. I searched Amazon and I know growing up from my parents using it that Paul Mitchell is good. This has worked wonders. I am back to every 2-3 day washes. My hair feels lighter, shiny, and has great volume. I have super thick wavy hair and I am very pleased. The quality is great. There is a barely there almost lemon smell. The value isn't so bad and I consider myself a cheap-o but it was affordable for me especially when I caught it on sale. The value for the money is excellent. My hair is long so I have to use a good bit. Super easy to rinse out..sudsy but not overkill sudsy.
Why a Clarifying Shampoo Helps Oily Hair
The reviewer describes a sudden change at age 37: hair became extremely oily after skipping just one wash day. That experience is common. Oil, sweat, dead skin, styling products, and hard-water minerals can build up on the scalp and hair. A regular shampoo may clean surface dirt, but a clarifying shampoo is designed to deep cleanse and remove buildup. For oily hair, that can mean less residue, a cleaner scalp, and hair that feels lighter. Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two is marketed as a clarifying shampoo for all hair types, especially oily hair, so it fits the concern in this review.
What the Review Says About Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two
The reviewer says Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two worked wonders and helped her return to washing every two to three days. She describes her hair as lighter, shiny, and full of volume. She has thick, wavy, long hair, so she uses a good amount, yet she finds it easy to rinse and sudsy without excessive foam. The lemon scent is barely there for her, which matters if strong fragrance is a concern. These details support the product description: this clarifying shampoo is liquid, has a crisp lemon scent, and is aimed at deep cleansing and buildup removal. For oily hair, the key benefit is that it can reduce the heavy, coated feeling that buildup creates.
Buildup, Oil, and the Two-to-Three-Day Wash Cycle
A clarifying shampoo can help oily hair look cleaner for longer, but it does not change how much oil a scalp produces. The review's result—washing every two to three days—is realistic when buildup is controlled. Still, anyone with oily hair should avoid overusing a clarifying shampoo. Deep-cleansing formulas can be drying, and the product reviews reflect mixed opinions on moisture: some users say hair stays hydrated, while others find it very dry. The safer approach is to use this clarifying shampoo when hair feels coated or weighed down, then follow with conditioner if needed. That balances the deep cleanse with comfort and shine.
Price, Value, and Realistic Expectations
The reviewer calls the value excellent, especially on sale, even though she considers herself frugal. Other customers agree that the product is worth it, while some find it overpriced. This is a common split for salon-brand clarifying shampoo. The customer rating of 4.5 from more than 13,700 ratings suggests broad satisfaction, but individual results depend on hair type and routine. People with oily hair may see lighter, shinier hair and less greasy residue; people with dry or sensitive hair may need to use it less often. The lemon scent, easy rinse, and soft, silky finish are pluses for many users.
How to Use This Clarifying Shampoo for Oily Hair
Use the clarifying shampoo on wet hair, massage it into the scalp, and rinse well. Because the review notes that it is sudsy but not overkill, a small amount may be enough unless hair is long or very coated. For oily hair, focus on the scalp and roots, then apply conditioner mainly to the ends. If hair feels dry after use, reduce frequency. If hair still feels heavy, use it once weekly or as needed. The goal is not to strip hair every day but to remove buildup so the hair feels clean, light, and full of volume. For readers searching for a clarifying shampoo for oily hair, Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two is a practical option supported by this review's experience and the product's deep-cleansing design.
