Tea Tree Lavender Mint Moisturizing Conditioner, Hydrates + Soothes, For Coarse + Dry Hair

My skin is very sensitive and prone to break outs. Even products designed for clearing acne will make my skin worse. My biggest problem areas were my back and hairline. For years, I was fighting a losing battle, trying every body wash and medication on the market. I had no idea my body acne was being caused by my conditioner.
I started with the tea tree special and my skin cleared up in a matter of weeks. But winter was coming and I needed more moisture for my very long hair. I switched to the lavender mint and swore off all others. Now it's been years since I've used anything else and I couldn't be happier.
The scent is wonderful. Which is one of the most important things for me because my nose is just as sensitive as my skin. I get compliments all the time.
I try to treat my hair with care and respect. I don't use dyes or bristle brushes. And I don't blow dry, ever. This conditioner paired with a wide tooth comb will make you say goodbye to split ends forever, if that's all you do to it.
All around this product is perfect for long dry hair and it will help clear up your acne. I'll never use anything else :)
(Update, 2017)
I'm still using the same conditioner. I'm so glad the formula hasn't changed at all. And if any men out there are thinking they might want to try this but don't know if the scent would be too flowery, it's not. Lavender has a sweet pine-like scent. And when mixed with tea tree and mint, it's even better. For lack of a better word, I would call it a unisex scent. But I find it more handsome than pretty. My boyfriend and I both use it and so does his best friend (also a guy.)
Why This Conditioner Worked for My Acne and Dry Hair
Many people don't realize that their conditioner can cause body acne. Traditional conditioners often contain heavy oils, silicones, and pore-clogging ingredients that linger on the skin after rinsing, especially along the hairline, back, and shoulders. If you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, these ingredients can trigger breakouts by trapping bacteria and sebum.
This conditioner, part of Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Special line, is formulated differently. It features tea tree oil, a natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory ingredient that helps combat acne-causing bacteria and soothe irritated skin. Lavender oil adds calming properties and a gentle scent, while peppermint oil provides a cooling sensation and stimulates circulation. The combination creates a lightweight, non-comedogenic formula that rinses cleanly without leaving a residue.
The product is also color-safe, vegan, paraben-free, and made without gluten, making it suitable for a wide range of hair types and scalp conditions. The creamy texture is ideal for coarse and dry hair, providing deep moisture without weighing hair down. Users with long, dry, or damaged hair report softer, shinier strands and reduced split ends, especially when used with a wide-tooth comb.
Key Features and Benefits
Acne-Fighting Ingredients: Tea tree oil, lavender, and peppermint work synergistically to cleanse the scalp and skin while conditioning hair. This helps prevent clogged pores and reduces existing breakouts.
Moisturizing without Greasiness: Suitable for coarse and dry hair, the conditioner hydrates without leaving heavy residue, making it safe for those with acne-prone skin even when applied near the hairline.
Pleasant Unisex Scent: The lavender mint combination is described as “handsome rather than pretty,” appealing to both men and women. It's not overly floral—think sweet pine mixed with refreshing mint and tea tree.
Long-Lasting Results: Many users report that the effects last for hours, with hair feeling soft and clean without drying out. The fragrance also lingers subtly.
Clean Ingredients: Free from parabens, gluten, and animal-derived ingredients, this conditioner aligns with modern skincare and haircare preferences for clean beauty.
How to Use for Best Results
Apply a small amount to clean, wet hair, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends. Avoid the scalp if you are concerned about acne, but if your breakouts are on the hairline, you can gently massage a small amount near the roots and rinse thoroughly. Pair with a wide-tooth comb to distribute product evenly and detangle without causing breakage. For extra moisture, leave on for 2–3 minutes before rinsing with cool water.
Who Should Use This Conditioner
This product is ideal for individuals with sensitive, acne-prone skin who also have dry, coarse, or long hair. It is also great for anyone who dislikes heavy, artificial scents and prefers a natural, clean formula. Men and women alike will appreciate the unisex fragrance.
Safety and Skin Compatibility
Although tea tree oil can be irritating in high concentrations, the amount in this conditioner is balanced to be gentle enough for daily use. As with any product, perform a patch test before full application if you have extremely reactive skin. The formulation is pH-balanced and dermatologist-tested, but individual sensitivities vary.
